Mudlarks

Mudlarks were poor Londoners who would dig the riverbed of the Thames to retrieve objects they could sell to survive. Nowadays, mudlarking is an archeologist activity of strolling on historically rich riverbeds, gathering and sharing finds on social networks. During an expedition on the riverbeds of the Schelde, Clémentine Vaultier found a large quantity of similar shards. In dialogue with a number of experts, the artist will map this broken history of white and blue ceramics by digging into each shard’s history linking their influences, techniques and geographies.
